Hurricane

Well future child of mine, mother nature has been quite busy this past week. First an earthquake, then a hurricane (Category 1, Irene) has traveled up the entire east coast. We were in Pittsburgh for your Aunt Becky and Uncle Joe's Wedding, and also your Aunt Michele and Uncle Zac's Wedding so we missed the excitement. We came home to a bunch of downed trees in the yard, but no major damage. Your Aunts and Uncles decided to get married on the SAME DAY so your parents were quite busy on Saturday! Both brides were so beautiful and both grooms quite handsome! Don't worry, you are in the photos as well as a visible baby bump!

Earthquake!

Today is Johnny and I's 7th wedding anniversary! I cannot believe how fast it went and that we are now having a baby! Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband and looking forward to many more great years to come (now as parents!). Here we are smiling in 100 degree heat:

In other news we felt an earthquake today that originated around D.C. area. Surgery does not stop just because of an earthquake, the surgeon looked up, asked why the room was shaking, why the lights were shaking, shrugged and got back to work. Too funny! Here is a photo of the devastation....
Of course right after the quake we ran to the store for milk, bread, beer, and snorkels! We need to be prepared!

Mr. Lucky had a rough weekend!

So Mr. Lucky went boating with us yesterday, and HATED it (we rented a little boat for a couple hours). No big surprise there considering he shakes off five times when a drop of water gets on him. We did find out he can swim though, but he again HATED it and swam directly for shore where he would have ran away if we did not intercept him and put him back into the boat. He is recovering from his trauma today and has not gotten out of bed all day. Poor Mr. Lucky, no more boats for you!

Nothing new to report....18 weeks tomorrow, could be considered 'showing' a bit but really I look like I ate too much, and EXHAUSTED. Where oh where are you magical second trimester energy boost? Oh where oh where could you be?

Here is a picture of Lizzy "Big Snack", my parent's dog for your enjoyment:

Baby aisle

So I finally ventured into the baby aisle at the store. My entire adult life this part of the store has scared the crap out of me but I figured I needed to get over the fear since well...I am having a baby. Wow, there is some cute stuff in the baby aisle! Who knew? Ok probably everyone else on the planet but me...I just discovered this. Here are my first purchases for the newest Reitmeyer:

Skull socks and a referee bib. Every baby needs skull socks! And since we don't know boy or girl yet I got one of each!! And when I saw the bib all I could picture was the baby and Pap Pap watching the Steelers games together!

Gramacita also has joined in on adding to the baby's first items:
It says: Bananas over Mommy (thats me!)Cute huh?!

Someday he or she will be moving and say "how the heck did I get so much stuff?!" Well Kid evidently it all starts with the baby aisle....

...

You know you are pregnant when you drop your pen and instead of bending down to pick it up you get a new one from your bag.

Food!

Oh food, what a love/hate relationship we have right now. Things I am craving: vinegar...(balsamic, malt, and white distilled...YES PLEASE!) and tomatoes (especially from the garden). That is pretty much it right now....at least its really healthy!! I am not liking anything spicy, garlicy or salty. My favorite meal is sorta like a caprese salad with balsamic vinegar, tomatoes, sometimes mozzarella, sometimes no cheese, and basil. Oh and dubble bubble bubble gum. Love that right now. Wow, pregnancy is fun! (NOT!)

Grateful

Sometimes you just need to reflect that even though things can suck sometimes, really life is good. This is where I am. I am sitting in my house on a day off, surrounded by my pets and my wonderful husband will be home soon. He puts up with my crabby self and has been so great during these trying few months of me being super sick and moody! I have a great family and good things are happening for them as well. So bring it on all-day-morning-sickness, you are not going to bring me down!

Random Fun Thoughts:

Whistletips--woooooowoooooooo!!!!

"I like turtles"

"Suck it Trebek!"

Suck it Morning Sickness!!!! Peace out.

Birthdays!

Happy birthdays to nephew/godson Brandon and sis-in-law Becky!! Little Rhiannon decided that her relatives CANNOT sing!

Much better.  What did we get ourselves into?

15.5 weeks pregnant!

So its been 15.5 weeks of pregnancy so far.  Still feeling like I am in the first tri b/c of n/v and tiredness but hanging in there!  We have picked out the nursery bedding and theme so far and a probably a girl name (no not telling yet!).  Still debating boy names so suggestions are still welcome!  As of now we will address the boy as "Jorge" and a girl "Ruby Rose" until further notice.  We have been calling the baby Jorge since day one and Mom decided that she is calling it Ruby Rose now (b/c she hates that name and we wont tell her the real one!).  It has been driving my Mom crazy that we have not told the girl name yet but we are not willing to hear any opinions yet so everyone must wait a bit longer.  Maybe after we find out the gender (hopefully on August 31st). Being pregnant so far has been feeling like I have the flu for three months...I keep hoping for that magical energy that is supposed to appear in the second tri. I am still not showing at all and actually have lost about 15 pounds instead of gaining any because of how sick little Jorge has been making me.

It has been quite an adventure working in the OR with constant morning sickness.  I am proud to say I have not once compromised patient safety or sterility!

We (meaning Johnny) have started to clean out the future nursery but have quite a ways to go getting things ready.

We are quite optimistic about the pets and the new baby getting along, we have such great pets and they have always adjusted to every move, every new animal addition, and other changes.  I think Rusty will be super excited to be a big brother because he LOVES kids.  We just must make sure he does not play 'bowling for children' when the kid starts walking!

Here is the test that told us that little Jorge was going to come and meet us in 9 months:
Yeah it says pregnant...holy sh*t, its real.
